President's Message

As we close out 2016, I wanted to reflect on the successful year we had. The Chesapeake Chapter takes great pride in the unique mixture of topics, meeting venues and presenters offered. Our events have included an onsite visit to the National Aquarium and for the first time, a two part educational series on Cyber Liability. Focusing on Part A., First Party Cyber damage Risk Quantification and Transfer Strategies and then; Part B., Third Party Risk Quantification and Transfer Strategies.

The Chapter recognizes the importance in creating an environment that fosters both a professional and personal connection among members. As such, in 2015-16 we offered various networking events. We held a networking event at a local waterfront restaurant, held a Pirate Cruise and played golf at our annual golf tournament, to name a few.

As special note, I would like to thank the volunteers and participants who once again made the annual golf tournament a successful event. Because of your commitment to our chapter we raised $4,150 for Camp Open Arms, a Camp for Kids with Limb Differences.

For 2016-17, the Chapter has many exciting events planned and I look forward to seeing all our members and those interested in becoming members. I encourage participation in the monthly educational meetings as well as the networking opportunities available. If you have career opportunities in you organizations, let us know and we will be happy to include them on our website.

I am proud that our Chapter has received numerous awards from RIMS throughout the years in recognition of our efforts. Once again, we won the Education Achievement Award in Chapter Programming. Looking forward to continued success!
